So, okay…in short, I left Philippines because I just wanted a change of phase. I was tired of the rat race. Canada seemed like a good place to start over. Yup! I left my managerial job in Canada to be a student again in Canada…didn’t mind taking the bus again. Hey, I had to sell my car so I would have enough money to go to Canada…pay the agency, etc. I had to stay up late nights again to study in preparation for my licensure exam. I had to eat chicken wings and Spam because the place that I was staying in Vancouver only allowed a microwave in the room.
I still didn’t answer the question "what is it about Canada," right? I’ll answer that on Part 3. Well, did you have a similar experience? Let me know. Please feel free to leave your comments.
For the meantime let me give you a peek of Vancouver and Victoria and Tofino in British Columbia, a video posted by SenhordoBonfim in Youtube. Enjoy!

Good day! If you are a Filipino and you happen to be visiting this blog, it’s probably because the header caught your attention. So either you are a Filipino living in Canada or a Filipino wanting to live in Canada. But then again, you might be neither and just curious about what’s written in here….;)
Anyway, I left the Philippines in 2004. I had a nice job there. A managerial job. In terms of salary, at that time I was getting a salary that you could say was very comfortable to live by for a single person, with some “surplus.”
Sometime in 2003, I woke up one day and I was fed up with the system (or lack thereof) in the Philippines……. I got fed up with the politicians running the country…and the traffic…oohh!!! When you drive from Las Pinas, where I lived, going to somewhere in Ortigas Center, where I worked, then you would witness a lot of stressful things. For instance, the numerous MMDAs that tried to organize the flow of traffic. In Las Pinas, there was what you call “buhos.” “Buhos” ng traffic meaning that for about 10 minutes, the two-way lane would be used as a one way street. Either all cars going south or north. It was chaotic. I’m not sure if they still have that “system.” Or they finally realized that it doesn’t work.
There is an interesting video from skratchkamot in YouTube. It was taken on a February 25, a non-working holiday. So there’s lesser traffic. Though it doesn’t show the “buhos” system that I’ve been talking about, it will give you an idea of what traffic is like in Las Pinas.
Watching this video actually makes me feel like I’m playing Burnout Revenge on my PSP. lol!
Off topic: This morning I literally had to stop writing this blog because I just found out that we didn’t have water in the building. I had to phone the building manager right away. I was in a panic. Here in Canada, no water flowing from the faucet???? Thank God it was just for 30 minutes….. whew!
